How to connect to a SQL Anywhere DB on the PDA from the Desktop PC?

The following example connects desktop ASA9 to PPC ASA9 by utilizing an ODBC profile through MS Active Sync

Assumptions
01. Desktop OS  : WIN XP
02. PPC OS : WM 5 or WM 6
03. MS ActiveSync 4.0 or greater
04. C:\ASA9\ is the path to all ASA driver files
05. Mobile device app using PocketBuilder (or any other)
06. Desktop app using PowerBuilder (or any other)

     
  Allow port 2638 to be used by ActiveSync. Create a .reg file and install
   

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\ProxyPorts]
"ASA"=dword:00000a4e

Copy the above 3 lines of text into note pad and save it as .reg file. Then simply double click the file to register. There will be a Registry Editor Popup response window prompting you to confirm.

  WM Device :  Dock it on the cradle or  activate Bluetooth connection
     
  Desktop : Make sure the connection between the PC and the Device is established
